What’s Your Sign?

I’ve taken photos now of my new astrology Pendulets, and I’m working on the written descriptions for each one.
I love seeing them all side by side. The gemstones and crystals seem more sophisticated than I expected, and they all feel cool, smooth, and luxurious on the wrist. The beads aren’t huge — they’re 8-millimeter spheres — but something about them just feels substantial.
Astrology Pendulets are designed to bring out the best qualities of each sign. They feature genuine crystals and gemstones chosen for their astrological properties, as well as pewter rondelles, silver-plated magnetic clasps, and clear quartz focal points.
Look for them soon on Pendulets.com.
Which Suits Aquarius Best: Lilac Stone or Sodalite?
I’ve finished designing Pendulets for every sign of the zodiac. I’m torn, however, between two gemstones to represent Aquarius: lilac stone and sodalite. Which one do you prefer?

Read on if you’d like more information before you make your decision.
About Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Aquarians are the forward-thinking, progressive people of the zodiac. They are visionaries, revolutionaries, and pioneers. Aquarians are usually unconventional.
Aquarius is an air sign, the element that symbolizes intellectual energy. Aquarius is the eleventh sign of the zodiac, and it rules the eleventh house of social groups and causes. Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the planet of freedom and rebellion.
Choice #1: Lilac Stone
Lilac stone, a form of quartz, is a blend of subtle hues: it’s primarily lavender, with softly blended accets of pink, rose, ivory, and gray. It’s a relatively new stone on the mineral market.
Because it blends tones of lavender and rose, it embodies the royal presence of violet, the color of spiritual leadership and sovereignty over others, along with the subdued passion of pink. Shades of pink and rose are soothing, calming, even healing. They stir feelings of empathy, acceptance, friendship, and forgiveness. They may even inspire love and romance.
Choice #2: Sodalite
Sodalite, the student’s stone, is a dark blue stone with white bands. Its crisp, contrasting colors are clean and refreshing: sodalite can help you focus, concentrate, remember, learn, and organize your knowledge. Some people keep sodalite near their computers and television sets to absorb electromagnetic emissions.
Blue, the color of the sea and the sky, inspires tranquility. Blue is also associated with meditation, intuition, and psychic ability. Blue crystals can help you connect to the deep sea of consciousness, or soar to new heights for inspiration. White, on the other hand, is the color of higher thought and higher consciousness. White symbolizes spiritual matters — pure, clean, and untainted by the dirt and debris of physical existence. White represents intuition and psychic ability, as well as innocence and purity.
The Sif Pendulet — Named for a Golden-Haired Goddess

This goldstone Pendulet is named for Sif, a Scandinavian earth goddess with long golden hair that shines in the sun. On warm nights, especially in summer, she enjoys making love beneath an open sky in the fields, symbolically giving life and adoration to the earth. That explains the heart talisman.

The Chantico Pendulet — Named for the Goddess of Hearth Fire

I like writing marketing copy. Read this, and join me in imagining that we’re all at a party on the beach. Does anybody have a guitar?
The Iris Pendulet — Named for the Greek Goddess of Rainbows

The Iris Pendulet was named for Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow. She would travel between heaven and earth, appearing as a winged maiden on a shining, hopeful rainbow. In this form she represents the calm after the storm — the end of the year’s activities and the advent of a new beginning. Traditional offerings to her include figs, cakes, wheat, and honey. In some stories it was Iris’s job to gather water from the underworld for use in taking sacred oaths.

The Maeve Pendulet — Named for the Fairy Queen of Ireland

Here’s one of the Pendulets I made this morning. It’s even prettier than the picture shows: the swirl-cut red agate beads give it the illusion of movement, even when it’s not being worn, and the pendulum itself is the fanciest focal point I’ve used so far. It’s a smooth gemstone of sunset-colored aragonite, wrapped in a fillagreed silver bail, and accented with a tiny opal cabochon.
It’s named for Maeve, the Fairy Queen of Ireland. She was often depicted with golden birds on her shoulders, whispering magical knowledge into her ear.

Technical Support

Julia, my seven-year-old technical support specialist, has gone through my new Pendulets website, checking links and ensuring that all of the graphics come up on every page.
Yes, I felt a little crazy at first, asking a first-grader to review my work — but if you think about it, who’s more qualified than someone whose first words were “dot com?”
It’s true! When Julia was a year old, she used to watch the Disney channel — probably more than she should have. She would toddle around the house, asking what sounded like, “Got gum? Got gum?” We were dumbfounded. How did she know about gum, and why did she want some? I think my dad — good old Grandpa Wayne — even offered her a stick, but she blew past him. One day, during a commercial for Disney.com, she started jumping up and down, pointing at the TV and chanting, “got com!” At last, we got it!
So anyway, the Pendulets website has received a thorough review from young Julia, who pronounced it sound and whole.
In the process, she was also astounded by the selection of gift certificates.
“Whoa!,” she blurted from the kids’ computer in the kitchen. “You can get a gift certificate for ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!”

Up and Running

The first draft of my fancy new website is up and running now at www.pendulets.com. Tomorrow I’ll have to fix a bunch of typos and PayPal buttons, but for now, I’m pleased.
